Dog Areas in Berea, SC

Berea, South Carolina is a small town located about 15 minutes outside of Greenville. However, this doesn’t stop many people from thinking that it’s just another portion of Greenville. This is true in part; while Berea is its own town, the town is located in Greenville County and is considered part of the greater Greenville Metropolitan area. The town is also a popular spot for high school football fans, and many of the team’s games are televised on Greenville’s news channels.

Being so close to Greenville has its perks, though, especially when it comes to Fido. Berea doesn’t have any dog-friendly restaurants or dog parks, but – you guessed it – Greenville does! You won’t have to travel too far up the road to have some serious fun with your four-legged companion. Berea doesn’t have any veterinarian clinics, either, but a highly-rated animal hospital can be found in Greenville, just outside of town. Having care only a bone’s throw away is always a good idea. If you’re looking for the relaxation of a small town while wanting all the big-city amenities nearby, look no further than Berea, South Carolina!

    #1 Cherrydale

Greenville’s Cherrydale neighborhood is located just outside of Berea, and if you’re looking to have some serious fun with your pooch, head to Red Barn Dog Park! This off-leash dog park isn't the largest in town, but it has plenty of room to let your pup pal enjoy some time with his furry friends. It's also not as pawpular as some of the other dog parks in Greenville, which makes it perfect for a shy or timid pooch. After you've worked up an appetite at the dog park, paw on over to one of the many fast food options in the area to grab some grub before heading home.

    #2 Viola Street

Your dog probably enjoys going for a walk. It allows him to socialize with other people and pets, and it also gives him a chance to get in his exercise. If your dog is tired of the same old path, though, why not head to Greenville’s Viola Street neighborhood? It’s only about 15 minutes from Berea, and what makes this neighborhood unique is that it’s all one big scavenger hunt! Eight tiny statues of mice, which were crafted by a local sculptor, are hidden throughout the neighborhood, with a couple venturing into downtown. (There’s your first hint!) Can you find them all? If you visit at the right time, you may even get to jam out to some live music while mouse hunting!

Downtown Greenville is full of fun, and it’s just waiting for you and Fido to come see what it has to offer! Downtown is only 15 minutes from Berea, but it might take you a bit longer to find parking. Once you’re settled, check out O.P. Taylor’s, which is a local toy store where Fido can come play, too. Right next door to that is Mast General Store, which sells everything from candy to clothes to home goods. There are also numerous restaurants and coffee shops downtown where Fido can join you on the patio. It’d be easy to spend a whole day here with your pup, so make sure you don’t miss dinnertime!
