If you’re searching for a furrific place to hike with your dog, head to Keowee Toxaway State Park. This 1,000-acre park welcomes dogs on leashes that are six feet or shorter. While you’re here, you and your pup can explore the park’s two scenic hiking trails. If you want to go on a short walk, try the 1.3-mile Natural Bridge Hiking Trail. This loop trail takes you over a natural bridge across Poe Creek and by scenic Lake Keowee. If you want to go on a longer walk, hop onto the 4.4-mile Raven Rock Loop Trail. This trail goes through the forest and up the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, providing amazing views. No matter which trail you choose, you and your pup are sure to have a great time hiking here!

Looking for a place where your dog can play off-leash? Head to Easley Bark Park, which is 18.5 miles from Sunset. Here, your dog can run, play, and make new friends in separate large and small dog areas. The park also has agility equipment for your dog to play on, including hurdles to jump over. If your pup gets thirsty while they’re playing, water is available. After the dog park, continue your fun day out with a snack and drink at Coffee Corner. This casual café has one dog-friendly outdoor table, and they serve delicious pastries and hot and iced coffee drinks.

Calhoun is home to Larry Abernathy Waterfront Park, a pawesome place to take your dog for an on-leash walk. This park is about 23 miles from Sunset, and it features flat trails that go through lovely wooded areas. The park also has a boardwalk over wetlands you can explore with your dog, and it has a paved trail that goes along the park’s lake. Bring doggy bags with you, and have a fun time at this park. If you’re hungry after the park, check out Pot Belly Deli. Sit at one of their dog-friendly outdoor picnic tables, and enjoy hot and cold sandwiches, salads, bagels, and more.

Table Rock State Park

If you’re looking for another beautiful place to hike with your dog, head to Table Rock State Park. This 3,083-acre park is about seven miles from Sunset, and it allows dogs on leashes that are six feet or shorter. Table Rock offers numerous hiking trails to explore with your dog, including the 1.9-mile Lakeside Loop Trail. This trail takes you around beautiful Pinnacle Lake, and it also goes past a historic boathouse. If you’d rather hike up into the mountains, try the two-mile Carrick Creek Trail. As you go along this trail, you’ll climb about 400 feet through an old hickory forest, and you’ll pass by scenic waterfalls. You and your dog will always have fun at this pawsitively amazing park!

This Taylors neighborhood is home to another great off-leash area, Pavilion Recreation Complex Dog Park. Located 35 miles from Sunset, this park has separate areas for large and small dogs. Both areas are fully fenced, and they feature plenty of space for dogs to run around and play. If your dog gets thirsty, a doggy water fountain is located right outside the dog park. After the park, treat your pup to a snack at Bruster’s Real Ice Cream. This ice cream shop has dog-friendly outdoor tables, and they offer free doggy sundaes that feature vanilla ice cream topped with a dog biscuit. While your dog enjoys their treat, you can dine on scoops of freshly made ice cream, sundaes, and milkshakes.
