Heiskell is a small, unincorporated village located in Raccoon Valley, about 16 miles northwest of Knoxville. In this area, you can walk along quiet country roads with your pooch. There are dog-friendly parks and trails within a 20-mile radius of the town. The nearest veterinarians are located in the town of Clinton, about nine miles to the northwest.

When you want to give your pal a chance to play with other four-footed friends, head to Tommy Schumpert Park on Rifle Range Road, located about eight miles southwest of town. This facility has two separate off-leash areas. One is for small dogs and the other welcomes dogs of any size. There is a pond here with a dock in each park where your pooch can swim when it's warm. Be sure to bring along towels.

Another pawtacular place for your pooch to get some canine social time is Dogwood park at Victor Ashe Park. There's a small fenced area where you can let your special buddy romp off-leash.
