Burnett Road
For a fun day out with your dog, head over to Old Hickory Beach. This beach is located on Old Hickory Lake, and it has a lakefront recreation area where dogs are allowed on-leash. Dogs are also allowed to swim outside of the beach area. You can also take your dog for walks on the park’s 1.1-mile Old Hickory Lake Nature Trail. This trail includes three loops that pass by swamplands and beautiful wooded areas. You may also get to spot some native wildlife while you’re on the trail. This lakefront area has tons of great things to do with your dog!

Shelby Hills
Shelby Hill is home to the fun Shelby Dog Park. This dog park is about 16 miles from Old Hickory, and it has one fenced-in, spacious field where dogs can play and run off-leash. There are shade structures to keep the park cool on hot days, and there are water fountains available for your pup. Bring your dog’s favorite toy or a tennis ball and spend the day playing with them in this great park. After visiting the dog park, get a snack with your pup at nearby Lynne Lorraine’s. This café lets dogs sit inside the restaurant, and offers tasty and healthy wraps, smoothies, and fresh-pressed juices.

Nashville’s Arlington Green neighborhood has a pawsitively amazing off-leash area called Edwin Warner Dog Park. This dog park is about 28 miles from Old Hickory, and it features a large, fenced-in field that’s about the size of a football field. There are also benches for owners to relax on, and there are doggy water fountains. If playing in the dog park makes you and your pup hungry, head over to Alley Pub. Throughout the park, there are tunnels for your dog to run through, and there are picnic tables where owners can sit while their dog plays. Bring your dog some water and their favorite tennis ball, and have fun playing here. Afterwards, grab lunch with your dog at nearby Cori’s Doghouse. This casual eatery serves hot dogs with unique toppings inspired by different regions of the United States. You and your dog can enjoy your hot dogs at one of the restaurant’s numerous outdoor tables.
