The state of Texas is, in general, very positive towards animals and dogs in particular. Did you know that 44% of the Texan households have adopted a canine partner in their midst? Grapevine is, as a community that started out as an agricultural town, no exception to this rule and there are therefore many pet-friendly attractions and sights to see and visit.

One of these sights is the Grapevine Lake. This manmade lake was impounded in 1952 and serves as a recreational area for Grapevine, Texas, and its surroundings. Explore the lake by following the Horseshoe Trail. This 3.2-mile bike path is popular with those that love mountain biking but also can be traveled by foot, and, in the case of dogs, paw.

The closest off-leash play area for dogs in the Grapevine area is BooBoo’s Buddies Dog Park in Southlake, Texas. This dog park is not too small and not too big - according to the locals it is just right. It is, therefore, no miracle that this place is usually packed on Saturdays.

There are many businesses in Grapevine, Texas that allow dogs on their property. If you fancy a bite and a cold beer, the Chill Bar & Grille, and The Brick House Tavern & Tap have you covered. Finding a place to stay in town with pets is also easy to arrange in Grapevine as there is a multitude of hotels that allow pets.

The Horseshoe Trail is a great trail to let your dog explore and get a good day of exercise in. The trail is 3.9 miles long and turns back around on itself part way through. The trail is usually lightly trafficked and has beautiful wildflowers along the path. Your dog can hike the trail with you, but be sure to keep him on leash while visiting. The trail is also very popular with first time mountain bikers, so keep an eye out so your dog stays safe. Although there is a small creek that runs alongside the trail, you may want to bring fresh water with you for your dog to drink from.
