There aren't many bad places to be a dog, but Haverstraw is one of the best! This small town is home to two vet clinics, one of which is a full service animal hospital! You can afford to be as worry-free as your canine companion, because skilled help is always available here.

The Haverstraw Bay Park is a must-see location in Haverstraw. Though the park comes with its fair share of rules--no bikes, no swimming, and dogs on leashes of six feet or less at all times--it more than makes up for it with all it has to offer. Kids will love the full playground! There are also walking paths, BBQ grills, and plenty of room to just spread out.

Looking for another park with more beach access? The Haverstraw Beach State Park is a 73-acre, beautiful preserve in Haverstraw. This state park also allows dogs as long as they're leashed, picked up after, and willing to share the road with hikers, joggers, and other canines enjoying time outdoors! Picnic along the paths or amble next to the water; this park is great for whatever you have in mind!

Haverstraw is a gorgeous natural area and a great place to take your dog!

The High Tor State Park in North New City is only 11 minutes from Haverstraw. This park is a huge resource, and you can't take full advantage of your time in Haverstraw without paying a visit. Leash up your dog (six feet or less!) and head onto the trails. This 691-acre park is far too big to explore all in a day. You can get a great view from either Little Tor or High Tor peaks, but if mountain climbing isn't for you, there's still plenty you can do! Stick to the lowlands and follow bike and jogging paths through the park.

Emeline Park in East Haverstraw is a gorgeous park. The views of the water simply can't be beat. If you're looking for an easy location to walk your dog, head over to this park. It's never a chore to walk a flat path along the lakeside. There's also a playground for children, and a covered table area that's great for a picnic lunch or a rest along the shore. This park is highly pupular, so shy dogs may not enjoy it during peak hours. Head early in the morning or late in the evening for the most peaceful trip.

The Bowline Point Park is an exciting place to take your whole family. There is a key attraction that your dog won't be fully able to participate in, fair warning--Bowline Point Park has a pool that is humans only. The rest of the park is a refreshing blend of dog friendly activities, from walking to picnicking in the shade. Walk the path that edges Bowline Point Park for a  great view of the water from all sides! You can also walk out on Bowline Point itself for fantastic views. North Haverstraw is a nice neighborhood, but going to this puptastic park makes it even nicer!

Fourteen minutes from the heart of Haverstraw is the New City neighborhood of Mount Ivy where you'll find the South Mountain County Park. This natural park is perfect for a long hike with energetic dogs. The landscape here goes up, up, up, so it's not a great fit for someone who doesn't love to get their heart racing tackling mountains. That said, the view from the top is amazing. Dogs won't care about your photo op, but they will love the opportunity to sniff so much fresh air! Bring your own supplies when you hike into South Mountain County Park, because there aren't drinking fountains.

Drive nine minutes from Haverstraw and you'll be in Central New City! The Kennedy-Dells County Park is a great location for all your dog walking, picnicking, and relaxing needs! What elevates this park above the rest? The fully fenced in dog run is what! This is a place for dogs to romp and play off leash. As the closest dog park to Haverstraw, this place packs in pups from all over. Shy dogs may prefer to stay on leash and explore the rest of Kennedy-Dells County Park, including the hiking loop! Remember to share the road and pick up after your pet.
