Jim Thorpe was the first Native American to win an Olympic gold medal for his home country when he won in the pentathlon and decathlon in 1912. The borough of Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania got its name because this is where the Olympic hero is buried. Jim Thorpe is often referred to as the Switzerland of America because of its astounding scenery and picturesque surroundings. Having been voted one of "America's Coolest Small Towns" and one of the ten "Most Beautiful Small Towns in America," Jim Thorpe is a town with so much to see and do, and of course, there's plenty of things for dog owners to do here with their pets!

While there is plenty to explore in the outdoors of Jim Thorpe, there are several great places to take a break and grab a bite as well. One of these places is called Molly McGuire's, and it's located in the stunning Hotel Switzerland. Here, you can enjoy Irish and American dishes along with an ice cold brew, and the best part is they have dog-friendly picnic tables so Fido can join you. Molly McGuire's is just one of many dog-friendly stops in Jim Thorpe you won't want to miss!
