Morris is the largest community in Grundy County, Illinois, and it's known for being the home of the only radioactive waste storage site in USA. The waste storage facility holds around 772 tons of spent nuclear waste!

The climate in this part of the county is very hot in summer and only mildly cold in winter, so you and Fido can enjoy the great outdoors in all four seasons. If you decide to visit Morris with your pet, you can rest easy knowing that there are three veterinary hospitals and clinics here that will take great care of your doggo in case of any emergencies.

If you and your hound are hankering for a hike, check out the Illinois & Michigan Canal National Heritage Corridor, a whopping 96-mile trail that wanders through state parks, wildlife habitats, and gorgeous natural areas. Just make sure you take some water and waste bags, and you'll be good to go!

In the historic part of Morris is a place that you pawsitively have to visit with your dog: Blackbird's Bowl. This place is a little doggie heaven filled with healthy gluten-free treats, aromatherapy items, and a wide range of supplements for your canine friend! Phillips Park Dog Park is located 32 miles away from Morris, in South Aurora. This 3-acre park has a separate area where overexcited pups can take a time out and chill for a minute. The park is double-gated and has two separate entrances. Although there are waste bag dispensers here, you should bring your own baggies, because locals note the dispensers are often empty. Also be sure to bring your own water, as there is no running water source in the park. You and Fido will still have a ball here, though! (A tennis ball, that is.) Your pup is welcome to explore the rest of Phillips Park with you, as long as he stays on-leash.
