Spring Hill is a beautiful city in Hernando County, Florida on what is called Florida’s Nature Coast. Being in the Tampa/St. Petersburg/Clearwater metro section, a vacation area, there are usually more people than the normal population estimate (98,621), especially during the winter months of November – January. Crews Lake Wilderness Park on Crews Lake Road is an 113-acre a true wilderness of wild animals and amazing views with plenty to do. In fact, there are cabins and campgrounds so you can do it again the next day because there is no way you can see and do it all in one day! Boating, fishing, swimming, trails, playgrounds, barbeques, botanical gardens, an outdoor amphitheater, and even a miniature train you can ride.
Rotary Centennial Dog Park is located right in the middle of Rotary Centennial Park. This is both an off-leash and on-leash park; Fido will need to be on a leash if he’s outside the dog park. There are trails to run on, parks for your tiny dog, and beautiful views for everyone to enjoy. The dog park is split into 3 areas. There are picnic tables and benches in all three areas. The third area is for shy dogs, therapy dogs, or dogs that just need a good long break. Please note that there is a fee to get in, but once you are in you will have everything that you need.
Come on down and grab a patio table at Rookie Sports Bar and Grill! Fido can enjoy slurping from a bowl of water while you enjoy sipping your favorite craft beer and enjoy the smells of the classic menu. This family-owned restaurant knows how important your dog is to you, so they invite you to join them. There is always a game to watch on the TV or live music to enjoy. You can even enjoy the perks of the establishment’s beer club! Be sure to catch the event menu to see daily specials. You will feel like you are king of the hill while you are visiting.

You can take advantage of this pioneer of the brewery industry of Spring Hill. The atmosphere is always relaxed, fun, and carefree. You will love meeting new friends and seeing other regulars as you visit. While you are here, you can kill two birds with one stone -- take your dog for a walk and explore the barktastic beer gardens! If you are in Spring Hill and want to find somewhere to take a nice day trip to, go 45 minutes down the road to New Port Richey. Here, you’ll find an 8,000-acre park called Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park. This barktastic place has trails that are both paved and unpaved. You can find a plenty of shaded spots to sit and relax in while walking. Please be sure to bring lots of water for you and your dog. You could even pack a lunch and enjoy a whole day out! No matter which path you take, you are sure to find lots of new adventures here.
Before your 45-minute drive back to Spring Hill, be sure to check out Doggie Cakes in downtown. The pawesome barkery has handmade doggie foods and treats that are made with dog-grade food. Everything on the menu is put the bark test to ensure that it’s something to beg for. Fido is welcome to come sniff around while you grab him a doggie bag and some water.
