Downtown

Downtown

Just outside of downtown Lutz is the Carolyn Meeker Dog Park and Nature Trail, otherwise known as Lutz Dog Park. The park is separated into two areas, separated by a small pond: one for big dogs and one for small dogs. Along with having plenty of benches for pet owners to relax on, the park also features water fountains so that both you and your dog can rehydrate after having fun under the sun! Bathrooms are also available. Whether your dog is big or small, he’s sure to have a ball exploring and making new fur-riends. This is an off-leash park.

Round Lake

Round Lake

If you’re looking for somewhere to dine with your dog, head to this southern part of Lutz, where there are numerous places to choose from. If you want a quick meal in a casual spot, head over to Café Liberty Coffee and Bistro where your dog can join you on the patio. If you and your dog are feeling particularly Paw-llywood, check out The Vine, which serves main-course dishes, such as crab legs, alongside delicious wines. There is plenty of space on the patio so that your pet can join you. Leashes are required at all establishments in the neighborhood.

Plaza

Plaza

Your dog will surely be grateful if you make the twenty minute drive from Lutz to Plaza Terrace, Tampa, as this neighborhood has not one but two dog parks! Al Lopez Dog Park, located inside Drew Park, is an off-leash dog park with separate areas for large and small dogs. If you want to explore the rest of the park, your dog may join you, as long as he’s on a leash. Gadsden Dog Park also has separate areas for large and small dogs, along with a common area. This park prides itself on having plenty of shady areas so that your dog won’t get overheated. Plaza Terrace is also home to several restaurants that are dog-friendly.

Wiregrass

Wiregrass

About 20 minutes east of Lutz is Wesley Chapel, home of The Shops at Wiregrass. The Shops at Wiregrass is an outdoor mall where your dog is welcome to join you in the common areas. Many shops allow your dog inside, but always make sure to check first, as some shops have a no-furry-friends rule. Some stores even have treats and water set aside for your pet. A leash is required, and you should probably bring along something to clean up after your dog with; no one wants to worry about stepping in anything while shopping!
Bay at Cyprus Creek

Bay at Cyprus Creek

Located just over 10 minutes east of Lutz is the Bay at Cyprus Creek, a neighborhood in Wesley Chapel. Along with several ponds and lakes to walk around and explore with your dog, the Bay at Cyprus Creek also has two restaurants where your dog can join you on the outdoor patio: Texas Roadhouse and Buffalo Wild Wings. Both of the restaurants require your dog to be on a leash, but they also require something just as important: a strong sense of willpower to not share your delicious steak with your dog when he breaks out the puppy-dog eyes. Good luck!
