Legendary US presidents, Abraham Lincoln, lived in Springfield, IL from 1837 until 1861. A major tourist attraction of the city is the multitude of historic sites of the former president including his presidential museum, his home, and his tomb at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Situated near the airport, in the northwest part of town is the Stuart Dog Run Park. It was added to the Park District in 1990. It consists of 37 acres and two entirely fenced areas, one for large dogs and one for small and elderly dogs. Each dog run contains water source, dogiPot, picnic tables, shelter and park benches. A small pond is also found in the park's southwest corner.

Irene Lewis donated 40-acres of land to create a Christian park for the community. This became known as Lewis Memorial Acres, a beautiful Savannah for recreation, relaxation, and reflection. There's a ton of activities available to take part in, including hiking, mountain biking, bird watching, and nature walks with your dog.

Lewis Memorial Acres is 40 acres of beautiful prairie that is used for wedding, engagement and senior class pictures. You can also access part of the Sangamon Valley Trail from this neighborhood, which spans 5.5 miles and provides access to Centennial Park and Stuart Park.
