Marquette Heights is a southern suburb of Peoria in Tazewell County, Illinois. It’s a populated site with small and medium-sized single-family homes and a commercial area. The settlement is just east of North Pekin. What you will pawsitively love here is Independence Park, a vast green space with a golf course, playground, and more! Get ready to hold your leash tight when you hit the miles of walking and hiking trails with Fido! The wooded area is just excellent for sniffing and barking at squirrels. Don’t forget to pack some food. The picnic facility is friendly, shaded, and has enough tables to fit a celebration!24

Peoria Heights
You will find another Peoria suburb and independent community north of downtown, on Peoria Lake. Can you spot the red water tower? If so, then you are in the right place! The site has several beautiful waterfront overlooks and a few areas of interest if you're traveling with Fido. Check out the miles of walking trails in Forest Park Nature Center. Some tours are guided! You can also check out the local store with environmentally friendly goods. Stop in Bielfiedt Park for a picnic or relax in the shade before heading to Duryea Park in the heart of West Peoria. This is a simple, bare-bones doggy spot with a fence, but your puppy can finally play and run off-leash here!

North River Beach
If you leave behind Chillicothe's downtown and head south toward Rome, in a few miles, you’ll get to North River Beach Road. It's a welcoming area overlooking the confluence of Goose Lake and Upper Peoria Lake. The area features small beach houses and general stores where you can grab some supplies for your adventures. Why do you need to stop by with Fido? Three words: Walnut Dog Park! It’s a snifftastic facility with two fenced sections for off-leash games.
