Located close to Kewanee, just a short ride to the north, the city is a quiet community with a few recreational spots serving as a getaway for those who are tired of the daily grind. You'll find a great deal of pet-friendly attractions around Peoria, one of the major cities in the state, about 40 miles southwest of Toulon. Pet-friendly parks with trails, designated dog parks, and an abundance of cafes and restaurants are what make Peoria an attractive spot to visit with Fido! If you don’t mind taking a short, 20-minute drive with Fido, Snakeden Hollow State Fish and Wildlife Area near Victoria is an amazing retreat for you and your furry baby. Windmont Park is another pet-friendly place for leashed walks located in Kewanee. This clean public park features plenty of open space to have a walk or explore with Fido, as well as some walking trails and seating where you can relax and soak up the atmosphere.

Meadow Valley Park is a beautiful recreation area with a pet-friendly extension. You don't even have to enter the main park if you only want to visit the off-leash area! The parking lot is right across from the dog park. The dog park has a fence as well as two enclosures for small and large dogs with seating in each. You are also welcome to visit the shopping area on Washington Road and taste the treats at McMahons Pints and Plates, or enjoy a creamy desert outside Ice Cream Shack of Sunnyland.
