Chesterfield
The Russel Memorial Park, east of Worthington in the town of Chesterfield, is where you and your leashed pup can relax or wander in its open space, playgrounds, sports fields and skate park. Blandford
In the Blandford-Chester area, just south of Worthington, you will find The Blandford-Chester State Forest, home to nature at its finest. You and your pup are welcome throughout this dog-friendly state park. Many outdoor activities await you both, such as fishing and hiking in summer, and snowmobiling and cross-country skiing in winter. Fifi will love this 2,308-acre forest’s two scenic waterfalls, Goldmine and Sanderson Brook Falls with a 200’ drop. Take the Marsh Trail to its 1,200’ summit, or easy Boulder Park Trail through this 15,000-year-old glacial area. Pack plenty of food and water. No restroom facilities are on site.

Glendale Falls
Glendale Falls is the feature spot for you and your pup in the town of Chester, just to the south of Worthington. This is the third tallest fall in Massachusetts, and is the highlight of this 60-acre nature preserve. Although the trail is just .3 miles long to the waterfall, it is lightly trafficked and makes the perfect spot to take Fido for an on-leash walk. This is a moderately-rated trail, so plan accordingly. Be sure to pack a picnic lunch to share, bottled water, clean-up bags and your camera, as Glendale Falls is picturesque and a natural bird-watching location.

In the town of Huntington, southeast of Worthington, you will find two stunning areas to spend the day. The C.M. Gardner State Park offers miles of walking trails, picnicking spots, a launch to put in your canoe, and great trout fishing on the Westfield River. And don’t miss the Knightville Dam and Reservoir.
