Riverbank is a modest Californian town along the scenic banks of the Stanislaus River. What started as a ferry crossing has grown to be a key player in the greater Modesto metropolitan area. There are four veterinarians and animal hospitals in Riverbank, and more than a dozen in nearby Modesto. It’s really more of a muttropolitan area!
Your dog is going to love a trip to Silva Park. Though the park is known for its sports fields and playground, your dog is going to see the large area of open, green grass and know it’s the place for him! Let him follow his nose through this meadow! If you’re more interested in jogging, there’s lots of room to work up a sweat.
Castleberg Park is another great place to head. If you’d rather walk your dog on a path than a field, this is the place for you. Their walking and jogging courses are open for dogs as long as they’re on a six-foot (or shorter) leash! Mile markers make it a snap to count your workout!
Riverbank is a treat for dogs and the people who love them. Check out everything Riverbank has to offer and plan a great vacation!
Riverbank’s Howard neighborhood is home to Safreno Park. This park is a great place to walk your dog on leash. You can skip the playground and picnic tables to go straight to the big, open spaces. This park is an amazing place to rest, relax, or get in your workout. Low energy dogs will enjoy being able to amble along the simple walking paths. Your energetic pup will be happy to go the distance; Safreno Park is a good size for a heavily residential area. You can cover a lot of ground without doubling up too much, if that’s what you’re looking for!
Sorensen Park is about as basic a park as you can find in Riverbank. It doesn’t have fancy amenities, but it does have one very important thing: space. At the end of the day, your dog prefers romping on grass to concrete. She wants to get out in the dirt! Run, roll, and sniff the grass! This is the park for that. It’s a large, open field. Bring your own water bottle and a bowl to share it, and set out to explore! While some areas of the park are regularly claimed for sports, the rest of the space is yours to roam.
Cross the line from Riverbank into neighboring Modesto and you’ll find yourself in the Sylvan Oakdale neighborhood. The Mary Grogin Community Park is the most pupular attraction in the area! This park has seven soccer fields as well as a lighted jogging track! Leash up your dog and head into this park if you want a workout that’s easy to track and time. This park is a great place to exercise, but you’ll never forget that you’re in a busy urban area! If track running isn’t for you, this park has 42-acres of space to explore. As long as you keep out of the soccer games, you’ll be doing well!
Just 12 minutes from Riverbank is Modesto’s Davante Villa neighborhood. Freedom Park is a must-see destination for the area. If you’re heading there in the summer months, you can make use of the seasonal splash pad, though it is for humans only. Take your leashed dog to explore the rest of the park! Skirt the playground and head to the simple walking paths. This urban park is in a densely populated area, but provides a natural touch. There’s plenty to see and sniff, so your dog can have a blast people-watching and exploring. Bring a doggie bowl so your pup can enjoy the drinking fountain water!
