Bailey Town Center
Bailey is another tiny town in Colorado, located up in the mountains, just 30 minutes east of Como. On your way there, you’ll get great views of the South Twin Cone, Shawnee, and Mt Logan Peaks. Once you’ve arrived, take your pick of adventures to embark on! The Three-Mile Creek Trail, for example, is located a few miles outside the Town Center and offers not 3, but 7.5 miles of trails alongside a sparkling river to explore. If you’re looking for a more immersive experience, the Scott Gomer Trail & Abyss Lake Trail takes around 12 hours to complete. Just be sure to pack an adequate amount of water, snacks, and supplies for the both of you.36

Highlands
The city of Como sits just over 30 miles outside of the incredibly popular mountain city of Breckenridge. Head north up Route 9, and you’ll find yourself at the base of the Rocky Mountain’s Tenmile Range. The area is engulfed in scenes from different mountain peaks from every direction, and you’ll find no shortage of hiking trails to explore throughout the region. Breckenridge brings visitors to the area year-round, so be sure to plan a visit no matter the season! There is even a dog park in the area for both residents and tourists pups to enjoy! The Carter Dog Park is located just off High Street and offers a fenced-in park where your pooch can run around.24

South Dillon
Located in Summit County, CO, Dillon is a small town that sits on the edge of the Dillon Reservoir. Typically, Dillon is frequented by visitors on their way to one of the nearby ski resorts, but there is plenty to explore within the town as well! Make accommodation arrangements at one of the local private lodges, or settle at the Best Western Ptarmigan Lodge. There is no shortage of pet-friendly rentals in Dillon! Once settled in, check out the Chihuahua Gulch Trail, which has lakeside views and incredible wildflowers throughout its 6.6 miles. This trail is considered strenuous, so if you’re a beginner looking for a more leisurely hike, try the Grizzly Gulch Trail.12

East Vail
About an hour-and-a-half out from Como is another popular mountain town, frequented for its many outdoor activities. During the winter, visitors from all over Colorado and throughout the country flock to Vail to ski on the mountains. However, there's plenty of other things to do, especially with your four-legged companions! Your first stop should be in East Vail, at the Bighorn Park Off-Leash Dog Area. In addition to providing a safe place for well-trained pups to spend their afternoons, the park has remarkable views of the Vail area. During warmer months, you can even try some water sports with your pooch! The Colorado River Runs welcome pets on private whitewater rafting trips, which boast plenty of fun sights to see.
