Located in the central region of Florida in Seminole County, Sanford is known as the "historic waterfront gateway city," because it sits on the southern shore of Lake Monroe at the head of the navigation on the St. Johns River. Sunny Florida has a lot to offer you and your pup, and Sanford is no different. But if an emergency strikes while adventuring, you'll find that your dog's health is very important to the people of Sanford. It is home to twelve veterinarians that your dog can visit for accidents or routine checkups.

Take your dog out for a good day of exercise at one of the pawsome parks that Sanford has to offer. Park on Park is a great spot to hang out with your dog since there is plenty of shade to keep you both cool, playground equipment, lots of grass for fetch, benches to sit on, and a great walking path to wander and spend a lovely afternoon.

If you and Fido are craving some delicious food, then head over to Gators Riverside Grill. This dogtastic eatery loves serving comfort food, and they have a deck that is dog friendly. The staff loves when people bring their furry friend along, and even offers water bowls and treats for their four legged guests. If you're just passing through Sanford with your pup and need a place to rest, check into the Best Western Plus Sanford and get a good nights rest with your pup before continuing your adventure.

Less then five miles out of Sanford is Lake Mary, which is home to the Cross Seminole Trail. This pawsome trail has an asphalt surface for the entire 22.8-miles it offers. The trail is usually frequented by bikers, skaters, and other people walking their dogs. Although the trail is mainly throughout  an urban setting, your dog will still enjoy the great walk he can get on it. If you both feel like extending your walk, then you can wander onto either the Seminole Wekiva Trail, which will take you 14 additional miles, or the Cady Way Trail, which is an extra 6-miles.
