Pups in Blairsville love spending the day at the Union County Dog Park across from the popular Meeks Park. While Meeks Park does not allow dogs, you can take your pup across the road to Union County, a small fenced in area where he can spend some time off-leash. You will need to bring your own doggie waste bags and bottles of water. After socializing with other pups in the off-leash area, take Fido for a walk along the hiking trails. Be sure to keep your pup on a leash and you will see a variety of wildlife including lots of squirrels! If you get hungry while out hiking, head over to the Aviator Café for some deli-style menu options. You can relax at one of the outdoor tables and enjoy your meal.

In the North Blairsville neighborhood, Poteete Creek Campground is a fun destination for families and their pups. The friendly staff will help you set up your campsite, and Fido is welcome to walk around the area on a leash. Kids can enjoy the playground and there is a beach nearby on Nottely Lake. Take Fido out on the boat dock or sit along the banks of the water and catch some fish. You can invite friends for a picnic, and they are welcome to bring their furry family members while you enjoy the peaceful area.

The Nottely River Campground-Cabin features campsites for tents, RV’s, and cabins you can rent. The owners are friendly and helpful, and you and Fido can fish in the river and catch some trout. You need to keep your pup on a leash when walking through the area, and be sure to bring some doggie waste bags. While hiking along the pathways, your pup will love sniffing the plants and rolling in the grass. Since many of the campsites are close to the water, you can enjoy the views and listen to the sounds of the river. After getting some exercise with Fido, relax at a shaded picnic table and enjoy a snack.

Another great campground in Blairsville is the Crossing Creeks RV Resort & Spa on Mountain Creek Road. The park is well maintained, and you and Fido can admire the views and a variety of wildlife while hiking through the Appalachian Mountains. There is a campground available for RV’s, tents, and even some cabins. Fido will love rolling around in the grass while you fish along the banks of the water. The kids can play at the playground or the putt-putt golf course, and there is a large ball field where your pooch can run around.
