Ringgold City Center
In the City Center of Ringgold, you and your pupper can see some greenery while exploring the quaint shops and architecture. Here you can enjoy the Downtown Creek Walk. This walk connects the Highway Commercial District to the Historic Downtown District, and runs alongside the Chickamauga Creek. The peaceful walkway features benches and the scenic Old Federal Bridge. Along the way, you can find the Little General Children’s Park. This family friendly park has a playground, picnic shelters and grassy areas to sniff and play on. The Creek Walk and the Little General Children’s Park both welcome our four-legged friends, as long as they stay leashed and are picked up after.

Indian Springs
In the Indian Springs neighborhood of Ringgold, you can find another puppy paradise in the Elsie A. Holmes Nature Park. This park features over 2 miles of trails, divided into six different options. These peaceful trails meander through hardwood forests and along the South Chickamauga Creek. You and your pup will love the sights and smells of the blooming wildflowers along the way. The park also features a large screened in pavilion and restrooms. Whether you want to have a picnic, do some fishing, or get a break from the bustling city life, this nature park is a great place to go. The park welcomes leashed dogs of course, as long as they stay controlled by their owners and are picked up after.

Belvins Acre
The town of Ringgold has its share of small urban parks to enjoy with your playful pooch. In the Belvins Acre neighborhood of Ringgold, you can find the Jack Mattox Park which features a large covered pavilion with 9 picnic tables where you and your doggo can relax in the shade. There are also restrooms, a fishing pond, athletic fields, and a 1.2 mile walking track. Leashed dogs are welcome outside of the athletic facility. They need to be picked up after, so don’t forget the waste bags! After working up an appetite, head over to Tres Amigos, located in the same neighborhood. Here you can chow down on some Mexican food next to your best pal at one of the dog friendly outdoor tables.

Cannondale
You don’t need to go far to find a place for your dog to enjoy some glorious off-leash freedom! In the Cannondale neighborhood of Chattanooga, Tennessee, you can find the Heritage Dog Park. This park is less than 20 minutes away from Ringgold, and offers a safe place for your pup to run, play, and enjoy some pawsitive socialization. This park has separate fenced off areas for small breeds and the big guys too. Features include water and bath stations, agility equipment, and free educational programs. The surrounding Heritage Park also features a pretty walking path near a creek. Dogs must stay leashed while they’re not in the fenced in areas. From this park, you can find a bridge that leads to Bruster’s Ice Cream that welcomes dogs at the outdoor seating. They even make a free sundae for your best pal with dog bones crumbled on top.

Fort Oglethorpe City Center
Just across the border into the neighboring town, you can find the Fort Oglethorpe City Center. Only a 30 minute drive away, it’s from here that you can access one of the largest outdoor green spaces in the Chattanooga Area in Fort Oglethorpe. This is the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Par which contains almost 10,000 preserved acres and historic civil war battlefields to explore. If you and your pooch are itching to get into the great outdoors, this is the place to go! The Chickamauga Battlefield has about 50 miles of trails, and the Lookout Mountain Battlefield has about 30. Leashed dogs are welcome to join their two-legged friends, just be sure to bring waste bags and follow the “Leave No Trace” policy.
