The town of Tyrone is located in Fayette County, approximately 25 miles southwest of Atlanta, and named after Tyrone in Ireland. It is a great little place to bring your pup for a visit, with several pet-friendly dining options, parks to wander around, and lots of puptastic places close by to explore. There is one animal hospital in town, should Fido need some help.

Shamrock Park has a lovely half-mile track around the lake where you can take your pooch for a little on-lead stroll. At the park, there are toilet facilities, shade, plenty of seating, and grass to enjoy. From here, take a walk north to Smoothie King. There are two pet-friendly outside tables here, where you can sit and relax with your pup over a delicious fresh fruit smoothie or juice.

Dorothea Redwine Park is another little greenspace in town where you can take your pup for an on-lead walk. The main attraction is the softball field, but there is a track you can walk around with plenty of grass to enjoy.

There are lots of great walking trails both in the park and surrounding areas, with lovely views of Lake Kendron.     Take some time out with your pup to wander through the Line Creek Nature Area in Peachtree City, set amongst 70 acres of public preserve. Well-marked and maintained trails make for an easy walk and cover around three miles, from the creek up into the woods. Keep your pup on a lead through here and make sure you clean up after him. Bring water for you both and a doggie drinking bowl. After your walk, head to Los Mariachis for a Mexican-inspired lunch, or the Flying Biscuit Café for a salad, sandwich or wrap. Your dog is welcome to join you at both of these places at one of their outside tables.

    The Ridge Nature Preserve in Fayetteville is a picturesque place to take Fido for a walk and a must-see if in the area. Located between two creeks, this newly-developed area offers numerous hiking trails on over 308 acres of natural bushland. Get your bearings at the site map, located at the entrance to the park, and see if you can find the rest area with the three big oaks. There are picnic areas and toilet facilities here, so pack yourself some lunch and make a day of it! Make sure you also take plenty of drinking water for you both and clean up bags for pup.

    Down in Peachtree City, check out the Peachtree City Dog Park where your pup can escape the lead for a good run and find some new friends to play with. There are three separate fenced areas here to accommodate varying sizes and activity levels, each with a gazebo and ample seating for you. Clean up bags are provided on-site, as is water, but bring a dog bowl and a bottle for you. Visitors are asked to deposit a $1 donation (for up to three dogs) at the entrance for park upkeep. There is ample parking at the adjacent BMX track with easy accessibility.
