Located about 25 miles west of Chicago, the city of Glen Ellyn in Dupage County is a welcoming community for dogs and their owners. One lovely park to visit with your special pal is Maryknoll Park on Pershing Avenue. This 24.5-acre facility includes some open areas, a disc golf course and walking trails for you and Fido to investigate. Dogs are allowed to join you on a leash in city parks. Make sure you pick up any waste.
If you want to try some catch-and-release fishing while your pooch lounges by your side, head to Lake Foxcroft Park. The three-acre facility has a lake with fishing pier, a walking trail, and some open spaces. Cast into the water from the pier or take a hike around the lake with your pup. At the north end of Glen Ellyn, you and Fido can go exploring in the 255-acre Churchill Woods Forest Preserve. There's a one-mile trail that wanders through prairie areas and a grove of black maple, bur oak, and white oak trees. Dogs are welcome to join you as long as they're on a leash up to ten feet long. Bring water and waste bags with you when you visit this vast natural area.
