Westchester, Illinois might be a bit more cat-friendly than dog-friendly, since its only vet clinic in town caters toward felines. But, that doesn’t mean you’re out of luck if you own a dog, because there are plenty of places near Westchester that are just a short drive away.

For starters, Chicago is just about 13 miles from Westchester, and the city is chock full of pawtastic things for your pooch! You can even take an evening cruise for the best views of the Chicago skyline.

If you’re looking for places away from the city to enjoy with your dog, you can find plenty of them, too. Oak Park is a great place to stop. Here, you can tour the Ernest Hemingway Museum, play at the Ridgeland Common Recreation Complex Dog Park, or visit the Oak Park Conservatory to stop and smell the flowers.
