Dear Pet Parents, I apologize for the lack of information about me on my profile. I have attempted to update this area for a few months and haven't been successful, due to glitches in the app. I have spoken with, and chatted with Wag Support a few times since at least March, but there has been no help through the glitches. As soon as they take care of the problems on their end, I will be sure to add some info about me here. Thank you!

Dog Walking in Richmond

The city of Richmond, Kentucky is full of dog-friendly attractions, so you can rest assured that your four-legged friend will never have a dull moment!

A must-visit is the Judy Rains Memorial Dog Park. It is located on Reba Lake (there is a walking trail from the park to the lake). Locals love the details, like double-gated locking doors and dog toys, as well as the beauty of the area – the park is full of grass, tall trees, and of course, the scenic lake. In addition, the Reba Lake Recreational Complex has many other activities, including an all-abilities playground and a fishing lake.

Nearby is the Fort Boonesborough State Park, which was founded by Daniel Boone during the settler period in 1775. It covers over 350 acres! Leashed dogs are welcome to explore the park and campground, but they’re not allowed in the actual fort area.

Richmond has several other parks that welcome on-leash dogs. Camp Catalpa is a former bird sanctuary that now functions as a public park, complete with shelters and a nature trail (as well as a public golf course). There’s also the Irvine McDowell Park, which covers 20 acres and includes amenities like a playground, museum, and softball fields.

Not only is this a historically significant site that has been protected and preserved by the city but it is also a wonderful place to take your dog to play, sit and relax. The park has plenty of open spaces, seating and shade. Furthermore, it is so large that you are unlikely to have to share space with anyone, making it perfect for a quiet day.
