Dog Areas in Saint Matthews

The city of St. Matthews, Kentucky is technically a city within a city! Despite being considered part of Louisville, which is only about nine miles away, St. Matthews has its own government. Many people consider St. Matthews to be a bedroom community, but don’t let that take away from all the city has to offer. St. Matthews was first incorporated back in 1950, and although it hasn’t been around very long, it’s still made quite a name for itself. It's home to two of the five largest malls in Kentucky, Mall St. Matthews and Oxmoor Center. If you like shopping, you know where to go!

Unfortunately, none of the shopping in St. Matthews is dog-friendly, so if you’re looking to take your furry, fashionable friend with you, you’ll want to head elsewhere. No worries, as Louisville isn’t far away. There are a handful of veterinarian clinics in St. Matthews, so whether you’re looking for care for a sick or injured pet or it’s just time for Fido’s wellness check, you have a few different options to choose from. Both you and Fido are sure to enjoy St. Matthews, and if you get bored, there are even more opportunities just a few miles away.

This park has a paved walkway running throughout it, so you and Fido can enjoy a long walk together. There’s plenty of shade, so during the summer, your pup’s paws won’t get burned by the pavement. In autumn, the leaves turn to beautiful shades of red, orange, and yellow, so if you’re going for a walk, make sure you snap some pictures. A leash is required since this isn’t a dog park.
