Middleton

Middleton

Middleton can be found at the south end of Boxford, and is home to one of the largest green areas in town. The Boxford State Forest sprawls out for 1045 acres and boasts a variety of flora and fauna. Not only have more than 300 species of plants been documented here, but there is so much wildlife that calls this forest home, from fisher cats to black bears. What your pooch will enjoy most is the network of walking trails here, with over 12 miles of trails to explore. These trails vary in length, with a couple taking under an hour, but the majority taking at least a couple of hours, so make sure to bring plenty of drinking water along for both you and Fido.

Georgetown

Georgetown

The Georgetown neighborhood of Georgetown is next to Boxford, and is where you will find some pawsome dog walks. The highlight of this neighborhood is most definitely the Georgetown-Rowley State Forest, which consists of 1112 acres of mature forest. There are several different trails criss-crossing through the forest, with many of these connecting up with each other, making it easy to accomplish a full day of hiking. If you and Fido would prefer a shorter, more urban, walk, head to the American Legion Park. This neighborhood park contains sports facilities, a playground, a music pavilion, picnic areas, and even a small beach by its pond.

Groveland

Groveland

The Groveland neighborhood of Groveland is right next door to Boxford, and is the place to go if you and your pooch enjoy scenic walks. The most popular park in the neighborhood is the Veasey Memorial Park, with 45 acres of parkland to stroll through. This is a conservation park, meaning that there are many rare species of wildlife and plant life that live here, so be sure to keep Fido on a lead to help preserve these precious habitats. Not too far away from here is Meadow Pond, which is one of the top fishing spots in Groveland. The pond is surrounded by varied greenery and short hiking trails, all of which your pup will love.

Great Pond – Brooks

Great Pond – Brooks

Directly adjacent to Boxford is Great Pond – Brooks in North Andover, and this is quite a green neighborhood. The Mazurenko Farm Conservation Area is located here, featuring 146 acres of untouched wilderness. This is an important conservation park, with many different plant and animal species living here, all of which can be seen from the hiking trails that snake their way through the grounds. Also in this neighborhood is Hickory Hill, a passive park with both stretches of woodland as well as open grassy areas, providing plenty of variety for Fido. Dogs are welcome in both parks, but a lead, doggie bags and drinking water are essential. 

Topsfield

Topsfield

The Topsfield neighborhood of Topsfield is next to Boxford, and boasts some spectacular scenery. The best place to really appreciate this is the Haverhill Road Conservation Area, which is home to 78 acres of conserved land. The trails here are short and relatively easy, making for an idyllic dog walk. If your pooch still needs more exercise, head on over to Pye Brook Park. This large park offers up several sports facilities, from soccer to baseball, and also has a few picnic areas scattered throughout. The highlight of this park is its walking trails, which loop their way around the various athletic fields, giving you and Fido an action-packed walk.
