North Olney

North Olney

North Olney is a pupperific neighborhood to call home or visit with your furry family for a weekend. The area is home to the stunning Reddy Branch Stream Valley Park where you and your dog can frolic and rejuvenate all afternoon. Dogs need to be on leash while in this park, but you will see many different dog breeds with their owners enjoying their time here, so be prepared to make plenty of friends! Your dog will need to be comfortable around large groups of adults and children, as this park can get busy on weekends and during the warmer months. Make sure you have a good leash and plenty of clean-up bags, and you will be good to go!

Central Olney

Central Olney

Central Olney is the commerce point of the city of Olney. Many business parks are located in this neighborhood, with apartment homes popular for those looking to avoid a long commute from other areas. Many apartment complexes are dog-friendly, but some have strict breed policies that you will need to be aware of before signing a lease. You will see many dogs walking with their humans along the sidewalks in Central Olney, so make sure your dog is on his best leash behavior when in the area. You will need waste bags with you everywhere you go to help keep all of the grass here green and pristine.

West Olney

West Olney

West Olney is an affluent neighborhood with its own country club and golf course just minutes from the freeway exit. Dogs are not permitted at the course, but the residential streets offer plenty of room with wide sidewalks and plenty of trees and bushes to explore and admire during your walks with your pup. Your dog will enjoy the bountiful fresh air (and squirrels) as you enjoy the curb appeal of the many large homes found in West Olney. Make sure you bring waste bags in case your dog shows a little too much appreciation for one of your neighbors’ lawns!

East Olney

East Olney

East Olney is just ten minutes from the Adventure Park at Sandy Spring, which features a walking park trail where leashed dogs are welcome. You may prefer to walk your dog on a harness here if you decide to venture from the paths. You will also want to bring clean-up bags to help keep the park clean for the other visitors. This park is a great spot for a family picnic where your dog is always invited to help keep the blanket clean from messes and spills, of course! Make sure that you bring some treats or snacks for your dog to enjoy on his own while you chow down on your picnic basket goodies.

South Olney

South Olney

South Olney is home to the Olney Manor Recreational Park. This park is open to dogs on leash with their human companions throughout the year. There are waste stations throughout the park in case you forgot your waste bags at home, but you will want to keep a few extra bags in your pocket for those unexpected moments of excitement that your dog just can’t hold in. The Meadowside Nature Center is just five minutes from the south side of town, so you can always venture there if you are looking for a hiking experience where your dog is welcome to join you. Just be sure to obey posted signs, as dogs are not permitted in all wildlife areas.
