Dog Areas in Atco

Atco is a community in Camden County, New Jersey just 16 miles southeast of Camden. Although not an officially incorporated town, Atco has a population of approximately 12,000. Atco also has a 30-acre lake in town, and the hot, humid summers and mild winters make it a great place to do outdoor activities with your dog all year long. Atco is part of the Waterford Township, and within this township, there are a handful of veterinary clinics that will ensure your dog is always well taken care of.

Just a 15-minute drive north of Atco, in northeastern Vorhees, New Jersey, sits the Connolly Dog Park. This community off-leash park has everything dogs (and humans!) need for a great day together. There is a section for big dogs and another for small dogs in the park, and throughout the park, there are waste bags, rakes, and bins to clean up any messes. There are also gazebos which offer shade from the sun and benches on both sides of the park where you can sit and watch your dog play. There is a water fountain outside of the gate on both sections of the park, and there are often lots of balls in the park for your dog to chase. You and your dog are going to love exploring all of the parks around Atco!

Medford, New Jersey is only a 20-minute drive from Atco, and this 11-mile trip will get you to the Freedom Dog Park. Compared to many dog parks, Freedom Dog Park is massive at 20 acres. There are some areas of the park that are not entirely fenced in, but if your dog responds to voice commands, it will still be a great off-leash park for you to take them to. There are miles of paths in the park, and there is also a large creek and several small streams throughout the park where dogs love to cool off.

This trail is part of a network of former railway lines that have been converted into trails across America where people can run, walk, bike, or walk their dogs and enjoy the outside. This particular part of the trail stretches for two miles, and its smooth asphalt surface is ideal for plenty of different activities. Your trek along the path with your dog will take you past several different sights worth stopping to take a look at.
