North Bergen
The North Bergen township is located south of Fairview. This locale is a bustling place in a largely residential area. A few specialty shops and scattered places to eat can be found here. The 88th Street Park, located at 8800 Grand Avenue, has a small dog park for some off-leash socialization. The park has a little shade, very few places to sit, and a very small separate enclosure for small dogs. The dog park has a grassy surface, and there are water fountains nearby. Poop bags are supplied at the park. The rest of the park features some open green spaces, a playground, and picnic sites.

Montclair
Montclair is a town located 20 miles west of Fairview. The Brookdale Dog Park in this neighborhood has space for dogs to socialize and exercise off-leash in a fully fenced enclosure. This large dog park has a separate area for small dogs. It has benches and running water. The surface of the dog park is gravel and mulch. Agility equipment adds to the excitement of getting out and playing with furry pals. The rest of the park includes some shaded walkways for on-leash walking. Montclair also has many dog-friendly restaurants offering many different kinds of cuisine. Greek Taverna, located at 292 Bloomfield Avenue, serves inexpensive Greek fare at outdoor tables. Raymond’s, located at 28 Church Street, offers an eclectic American cuisine with dog-friendly outdoor dining.

Woodbridge
Woodbridge is 35 miles south of Fairview. Woodbridge has a population of 100,000, and so offers more amenities than the much smaller town of Fairview. It has shops, restaurants, and a variety of recreational activities for people and their dogs to enjoy. The Woodbridge Dog Park, located at 518 Cliff Road, has two large fenced areas for dogs to socialize off-leash. The dog park has a dirt and grassy surface. Many brightly colored pieces of agility equipment make this dog park more interesting than just an average run. The dog park also has water fountains, and a nearby gazebo provides rest and shade for the human companion. The dog park is situated in Alvin P. Williams Park, which has open green spaces, and picnic areas.12

Maplewood
Maplewood is 25 miles south of Fairview. It is a small town with shopping and many outdoor activities. Maplewood is home to South Mountain Dog Park located at 10 Bear Ln. This dog park is located on the site of an over 2,000-acre nature preserve. The dog park has an area for small dogs and one for large ones. The dog park has numerous pieces of agility equipment. Dogs can crawl in tunnels and across boards. Nearby trees provide shade. The surface is a mixture of gravel and dirt. The nature preserve also has some trails for on-leash walking. Hikes range from less than a quarter mile to several miles in length. The preserve also has a number of picnic sites.

Linden
Linden is 25 miles south of Fairview. This is another small New Jersey town that is big on its dogs. Linden Dog Park is located at 2 Lower Road. This fenced-in grassy enclosures has plenty of space for dogs to play off-leash. A separate area for smaller dogs keeps play safe for all. Water is available on-site. There are only a few places for human companions to sit. The dog park does provide some poop bags. The dog park is located in Memorial Field Park which has ball fields, a playground, and a lake. A little on-leash exercise around the park gives a human companion some exercise, too.
