The diminutive town of High Bridge has some big opportunities for activities for a person and pup. Veterinary services are limited to one mobile veterinary provider. However, neighboring communities will take care of any health need your canine friend may experience.

High Bridge is a historic rail town -- one that has shrunken along with the need for railway transport. The Columbia Trail was born out of the death of rail transport that serviced communities like High Bridge. The trail has fifteen miles of hiking available, which provide scenic outdoor exercise along the Raritan River.

Taylor Steelworkers Historic Greenway is a 5.5-mile trail that starts at the Columbia Trail and winds around the town. The Taylor trail connects with High Bridge's other parks, and hikers will get a view of the many historic buildings in High Bridge along the way.

Some shorter trails can be found in the thousand acres of South Branch Reservation. The reservation is divided into several sections, each with its own amenities and trails. The Arches has a very short trail to the river and is notable for its stone arches built to accommodate train traffic. This section is very popular with people who fish. A picnic table makes it an enjoyable place to spend some time with a best four-legged friend.

In town, Circa on Main Street serves some elegant French cuisine in a fun casual atmosphere. Dog-friendly outdoor tables welcome diners with furry friends. High Bridge, though small, is a great place to visit for its historic significance and its many activities for a person with a dog.
