Lake Arthur
While Lake Arthur is a pretty back-to-basics area, you will find the Lake Arthur Town Park is a nice, well-kept spot to take your best bud for a long walk. You will need to keep your dog on-leash in this park, as there are no fences here. Many of the local pet owners prefer to break the leash rules of this park, though. If you choose to let your dog off-leash, make sure he responds well to voice commands, as the park is located right next to a main road. You will need to pack plenty of doggy waste bags and drinking water.36

Brantley Lake State Park
This huge state park, located about 45 minutes from Lake Arthur, is the pawfect place for the whole family. The town of Seven Rivers itself was interestingly a ghost town for many years before Eddy County decided to begin revitalizing it. Brantley Lake seemed the perfect place to start, and it has since become a popular destination for families looking for fun and friendly places to spend their free time in the spring and summer. Your dog is welcome to come with your family as long as he wears his leash and you clean up after him as you make your way through the park.24

Whites City
Just before you get to Carlsbad Caverns, you'll find Whites City, an expansive natural area with plenty of hiking trails located about one hour and 15 minutes from Lake Arthur. The trip is well worth it if you are a nature buff who loves taking your dog hiking with you. Plenty of water is an absolute must for both you and your pooch if you are visiting this gorgeous park. You also need to bring a harness so that your dog can keep up with you along the trails found in the area. Waste bags are always a good idea to help keep the trails clean.12

Carlsbad North
Carlsbad North is about 55 minutes from Lake Arthur. It is a great place for a day trip if your fur family is restless and looking for some adventure. The Carlsbad National Wildlife Refuge allows dogs along the trails that circle and wind through the park areas. Your dog will be thrilled when he sees his harness come out as you get your gear ready for this adventure! Just down the road is the Lake Carlsbad Beach Park. This park is a pupperific place to beat that New Mexico heat in the middle of summer. As long as you keep your dog on-leash and you clean up after him, you are free to have loads of fun there!
