Independence is a small city in Ohio that is located just 12 miles away from the second largest town in Ohio, Cleveland. If you're visiting or just passing through and need to snuggle up with your pup for a couple of nights in Independence, La Quinta Inn and Red Roof Inn both welcome canine guests! You'll find more lodging options, as well as more dog-friendly things to do, in Cleveland, which is just 20 minutes away.
If you're craving a sandwich or salad while you're in Independence but don't want to leave your pooch in the hotel room, visit the Potbelly Sandwich Shop. Or, check out Dibella's Old Fashioned Subs, which serves up house-made subs. You can also visit the local Starbucks or Panera Bread. Leashes and good behavior are required for all canine customers at all establishments.
Independence offers two hospitals for the canines where you can take your pooch if you need to. Seven miles away from Independence is the Cuyahoga Valley National Park which you and your pooch pawsitively have to visit! Pups have to be leashed, with no more than 6-foot-long leash, and you have to clean up after your pal. You could also visit the Cuyahoga River, famous for being so polluted back in 1969 that it caught on fire.
