Hello! I’m Samantha! Right now I have a lot of time on my hands, and what better way to do something fun with animals you adore! Growing up we rescued 4 fur babies from bad situations and I have grown to just love animals. Now I live with my 13-year-old dog named Bella. Unfortunately, she is unable to move around as she used too and I’m unable to take her on hikes and walks. So excited to meet you!

North Lake Park in Mansfield is a great place to bring your dog for a walk and get some fresh air. Within the park are amenities such as grills and picnic areas for sharing a delicious packed lunch, a playground for the little ones and a pond for fishing. If you are up for a good trail walk, the Richland B&O Trail starts here. This trail is one of 1600 rail-trails built along former rail lines and connecting corridors throughout the State. The Richland B&O Trail totals just over 18 miles, starting from North Lake Park and winding south to the community of Butler. Dogs must stay leashed both in the park and along the trail, and always pick up any mess your pet leaves behind.

Looking for something a little different to do with your dog? Take him to the movies! Mansfield’s Springmill Drive-In Theatre is a 50's-style drive-in theatre with two screens and a concession stand for all your movie snack needs. Fido will love kicking back and watching the big screen with you in the comfort of your own car, or even having a little snooze by your side while you enjoy a night out. Make sure you have a working FM radio so you can get the most out of the show. The theatre is seasonal, so check dates and times before visiting.

What better way to spend some time with your family and your four-legged pal than with a few nights under the stars? Charles Mill Park, on the eastern border of Mansfield, has three pup-friendly campsites with spectacular views over the lake and into the woods. Each campsite has a picnic table and campfire ring provided and electricity is also available at selected sites. There is a nature trail to enjoy here too, as well as public picnic areas, playgrounds and a beach. While dogs are not permitted at the main swimming area, there is a designated dog beach open during off-season. If you aren’t able to stay overnight, a day pass for a small fee will get you into the park to enjoy the facilities until sundown. You will all love it here!

The Maize Memorial Dog Park at Ontario Marshall Park is in the neighboring Ontario, just nine miles east by car from Mansfield. This pup-tastic 2.5-acres is designated off-leash space for your furry friend to stretch his legs and run, and play and jump with like-minded pups. There are separate fenced areas for big and little dogs, agility equipment and a water station for when he has worked up a thirst. Enjoy the shaded picnic tables for you to sit at while you supervise your pet, and the waste bags and trash cans that also provided. In the greater Ontario Marshall Park, there are picnic areas and a shelter, a playground, basketball courts, and a ball field for more whole-family fun.

The Malabar Farm State Park in Lucas, southeast of Mansfield, is set on 875 acres and includes a working farm, picnic grounds and many family-friendly educational activities and demonstrations daily. There are four trails to explore here too and pets are welcome, provided they remain leashed and you clean up after them. The Butternut Trail is 0.8 miles through Beech-Maple forest and the Doris Duke Woods Trail is 1 mile through an old woodlot. The Jungle Brook Trail is something a little different, meandering for 0.7 miles over wetlands via a boardwalk and through the lowland area of the park. The Pleasant Valley Bridle Trail is the longest trail, circling the park recreation area for 5.3 miles and covers slightly rougher terrain. Each trail is clearly marked with a colour, so you can relax and enjoy your walk and take in the beautiful surroundings!
