Meadow Avenue
This Charleroi neighborhood is home to two parks that allow dogs on-leash, including the fun Meadow Park. This small but lovely park has a paved walking path where you can take your dog for short strolls. There are also plenty of benches along the path where you can relax with your pup. If you’d rather take a walk along the water, head to Charleroi Trustees Community Park. This park has a walking path that goes along the Monongahela River, providing great views during your walk. Doggy bags are available in the parks, but be sure to bring water with you. You and your dog will both love walking through these neighborhood parks!

Library
Library is a mixed residential and commercial neighborhood with an off-leash park your pup is sure to love: South Park Dog Park. Located about 17.5 miles from Charleroi, this dog park has separate fenced areas for large and small dogs. Both areas have big fields for dogs to play in, and water and doggy bags are available. After your pup is finished playing in the off-leash area, put their leash back on and take them for a stroll on one of South Park’s numerous trails. If you want to take a long walk through the forest, try the six-mile Bison Ridge Trail. Or, if you’d rather walk on a paved trail, check out the 1.75-mile Maple Spring Loop. You and your dog will both have fun at this pawesome park!

Giant Oaks
When you’re in Giant Oaks, you won’t want to miss Peters Lake Park. This park is 24 miles from Charleroi, and it welcomes dogs on-leash. While you’re here, you and your dog can go for a stroll on the park’s 0.75-mile wood-chip walking trail. This trail goes around beautiful Peters Lake. Bring water and doggy bags, and have a good time walking here. After your walk, continue your fun day out with lunch at Hog Fathers BBQ of Canonsburg. Sit at one of their five dog-friendly outdoor tables, and enjoy brisket platters, country fried steak, fried chicken, and more. Bone Appetit!

Squirrel Hill South
Squirrel Hill South is home to the pawsitively amazing Frick Park Off-Leash Area. Located 30 miles from Charleroi, this off-leash area includes two fenced sections where dogs of all sizes can play together. If your pup gets thirsty while they’re playing, water is available right outside the dog park. Locals note that one side of the park isn't fenced, so keep a close eye on your pooch! If you want to get a drink or a snack with your dog after they’re finished playing, head to Commonplace Coffee Company. Sit at one of their three dog-friendly outdoor tables, and enjoy the cafe's delicious flavored coffee drinks and freshly baked pastries.

If you’re looking for another furtastic place to take your dog for an on-leash walk, check out Emerald View Park. This hilly park is 29 miles from Charleroi, and it has a few different hikes you can explore with your pup. If you want to take a long hike, try the 2.5-mile George & Guy Trail. This trail takes you up Mount Washington, where you’ll get amazing views of the Allegheny, Ohio, and Monongahela Rivers. If you’d rather do a shorter hike with your pup, try the mile-long Olympia Park Trail, which takes you through a woodland area. No matter which trail you choose, you and your dog are sure to have fun hiking here!
