Archdale

Archdale is a beautiful little neighborhood situated towards the north end of Sumter, SC. The neighborhood is pawfect for leisurely walks around the block and the different parks in the area, including the dog park at Dillon Park. If Fido gets bored of the paved trail there, look for the Sumter Cypress Trail just before the golf course. You'll have to keep your canine safely secured on his leash, but you can explore the beautiful wildflowers and scenery throughout the area. Afterward, cool off with some ice cream from the Marble Slab Creamery. Dogs are welcome at the patio tables outside!

Sumter is well-known for its gorgeous weather, which is ideal for fur families that enjoy fun in the sun. Daytime activities like walks along the creek and hiking are favorites for residents. You and Fido can load up the car and head south towards Sumter National Forest for some exciting hiking trails year-round!  As Carolina Gardens is located close to State Hwy 76, it is easily accessible from surrounding neighborhoods as well as the nearby cities. Plus, the area is sandwiched between two small college campuses, which is ideal for younger pet parents who are looking for a blended community.

Do you live for long summer days spent fishing with Fido at your feet? Look no further than the little neighborhood of Audubon Park. The Second Millpond is located at the south end of the area and offers pawsitively breathtaking views to visitors. Take a walk alongside the water’s edge with your furry friend or spend an afternoon kayaking. Palmetto Park is just a short distance from this neighborhood and is a great location for socializing with neighbors while taking Fido for an afternoon walk. There are even doggy bag dispensers throughout the park for pet parents to use!

West Ridge

West Ridge

On the other side of the Millpond is the neighborhood of West Ridge, which is home to many families – including the four-legged members as well! A beautiful place to live, West Ridge is just a few minutes away from various public parks nearby, which make for the ideal afternoon walk. You will have to keep your pup on a leash, but it is well worth it to experience the beautiful weather outside! Once you have worked up an appetite, wag over to the neighborhood Sonic Drive-In for a quick bite at one of their outside tables. Don't forget to bring a leash and plenty of water with you!
Wedgefield

Just 10 miles southwest of Sumter is the small community of Wedgefield. Pet parents from all over the area travel down to Westfield to visit the huge Manchester State Forest. This state forest stretches over 28,000 acres of wooded area flush with nature. There are tons of different trails to explore, such as the Palmetto Trail. Pets are always welcome as long as they remain safely on a leash. Are you down to get ruff and rugged? You can pitch a tent and camp under the stars at the nearby Poinsett State Park, provided Fido stays on a restraint no longer than 6 feet.
