Palmyra

Located about 6.6 miles south of Troy, Palmyra is a rural community with some county buildings, single-family homes, and a few churches. You and your special pal will be able to go for a walk along some wooded roads here. For a special treat, head south about 7.4 miles to Pleasant Grove Park. This facility has 969 acres and 22 miles of multi-use trails that wander throughout the property. Dogs on a leash are welcome on the trails. There's also an off-leash dog park at the eastern trailhead where fido can enjoy some social time with other canines. Bring water and waste bags with  you.

Red Hill Meadows

Located about 25 miles west of Troy, the small neighborhood of Red Hill Meadows has some private estates on wooded lots. There are country lanes here where you can go for a walk or jog with Spot. Take your pooch on an outdoor getaway at the Charlottesville KOA Campground off Red Hill Road. This property is located just over a mile to the southeast. Enjoy the nature trails and pond with your furry pal. Dogs are permitted to join you in the tent and RV sites, provided that you keep them on a leash when they're outside. Remember to clean up your dog's waste.

Woolen Mills

You'll find the neighborhood of Woolen Mills about 16 miles west of Troy. This area features medical buildings, corporate buildings, and single-family homes. There are sidewalks here where you and Fido can take a stroll around the block. If you're looking for a furrific place to take your pup for a special outing, check out Riverview Park. This 27-acre property includes benches, a playground, and a paved pathway. You can let your pooch run free on designated sections of the trail on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Otherwise, keep Spot on a leash when visiting here. Bring waste bags and clean up any droppings.

Fontana

The neighborhood of Fontana in Charlottesville includes some apartment buildings and single family homes. You and fido can take a walk along the roads here for some exercise. If you're looking for an off-road trail where you and your furry pal can stretch your legs, head to the Old Mill Trail. Follow this three mile pathway from Darden Towe Park south to the Martha Jefferson Hospital. Enjoy walking along the river with your furry pal. Dogs can accompany you here as long as they're on a leash and under control. Bring water and waste bags with you for your outing.

Lakeside

Lakeside is a southern suburb of Charlottesville located about 19 miles west of Troy. This area has private residences that are located near a community college. For a pawesome place to go walking with your furry pal, go to Kemper Park off Thomas Jefferson Parkway. Here, you can hike along the scenic Saunders-Monticello Trail. You can also follow the other pathways that wind through the woods in this 89-acre facility. Dogs are welcome to join you in designated areas of the park as long as you keep them leashed and under your control. Make sure you bring along waste bags to clean up any messes.
