The city of Oshkosh lays on the convergence of Lake Butte des Morts and Lake Winnebago, connected by the Fox River. During the 1900s, the city brought in plenty of businesses, like sawdust mills and brewing companies. One beer company coined the motto "Oh Gosh, it's good.", inspired by the city's name. What's so good about the city nowadays it the number of dog-friendly dog parks, trails, activities and six animal hospitals loated within.
The Winnebago County Dog Park is also known as the Best Friends Dog Park, and rests in the northern part of the city. The area is impressive when it comes to dog parks, with over 20 acres of fenced-in grassy fields. There are multiple areas with trails, open space, and shady trees. The entrance has a double-gate, and there are other amenities like dog-sized water fountains, trash bins, benches, picnic tables, and clean-up bags.
Rainbow Park is a gorgeous space, with rolling hills and a scenic view of the Fox River and Lake Butte des Morts. The park has a .5-mile trail, shaded sitting area, a pavilion, boat launches, boat docks, fishing docks, a playground, an enclosed rollerskating rink, and lots of areas to run around and play! The park is dog-friendly to leashed pups, and even ha water fountains and clean-up stations.
You don't have to spend a lot of time in Oshkosh to realize the city takes care of its four-legged residents and that they are always welcome back.
