Hurricane is a city in Putnam County, West Virginia, located 26 miles east of the State’s capital Charleston. One of the best green spaces to visit in Hurricane is Hurricane Park, located on the southern edge of the downtown area alongside the city’s reservoir. There is a great trail to walk with your pup which runs around the edge of the park and offers beautiful views of the water and adjacent forest. After your walk, take some time to enjoy the open grassed area and take in the views. If you have kids with you, they will love the advanced playground, basketball courts, ball fields and volleyball nets. In summer, a splash pad is also in operation. The pier out into the reservoir is easily accessible, and fishing is permitted here too.
For a sweet treat while you are out and about in Hurricane, head to TCBY for one of their famous frozen yogurts, or indulge in a piece of cake, a pie or tart. Delicious! Pets are allowed to stay with you at the outdoor seating area.
