Jackson Town Center

Jackson Town Center

The Snow King Mountain Resort is located just six blocks from Jackson’s Town Square. During the winter, it’s a skier and snowboarder haven. In the summer months, it’s the perfect place for you and your pal to sneak in a pawsome hike. The Sink or Swim Trail is three miles and transverses the mountain, so it’s not quite as steep as the others. For some serious elevation gain, conquer the Snow King Summit Trail. It’s easy to see why this trail is a favorite; the views of the Teton Range and the Jackson Valley are amazing. Your pal will feel like a champ when he gets to the top!

West Jackson

West Jackson

Since Emily Steven’s Park is the only park in the area that allows four legged visitors, it is very pup-ular with the canine population. It’s situated on the east bank of the Snake River so your pup can splash in the water and get her paws wet. She’ll enjoy stunning views of the Teton Mountains as she trots along the three miles of levee trails. There are also benches, so if your pup needs a rest, sit back and soak in the amazing scenery. This is prime moose habitat, so make sure your pup stays close.

East Jackson

East Jackson

This area is home to some furrific pet friendly hikes. Lace up your boots and head over to the Jackson Peak trailhead. This trail is about an 11 mile round trip to the summit. If your pooch isn’t up for that long of a trek, follow the trail for about three miles until you come to Goodwin Lake where he can jump in for a swim while you eat your lunch. Cache Creek Drainage is another option. Several trails are available here, but the six mile Cache Creek Trail gives your pup plenty of mileage. Dogs don’t need to be leashed in the area, but they must be under voice control.

Wilson

Wilson

Ski Lake is one of the most loved hikes by local pups. It is accessed via the Philips Canyon Trailhead in Wilson, which is just a 10 minute drive from Jackson. Your pup will dart up the trail so she can jump in the mountain lake and swim to her heart’s content. The trail is about 4.5 miles round trip and does not gain much elevation, so it’s pretty much smooth sailing up and back. Wildflowers, pines, open meadows, and groves of aspen trees make this a picture perfect hike. Be aware that this is bear country, so make sure your pup stays close.

Hoback

Hoback

For another puptastic hike, head south of Jackson for 15 minutes to Game Creek Road. Located in the northern part of Hoback, this road leads to the Game Creek Trailhead. Follow an old road through the open valley with flower filled slopes. It will eventually turn in to a narrower trail that runs alongside Game Creek. Your four legged hiking buddy will get a great workout as he runs through the aspen and pine groves. Look closely and you’ll see some beaver dams, and maybe even a beaver or two. This hike will definitely make you pup’s tail wag!
