As a northern suburb of Dallas, Texans have the pleasure of living in a pawesome, dog-friendly community in the city of Allen, Texas. The city was named after Ebenezer Allen, a state politician who wanted to continue the pathway of the railroad through Texas land back in 1872. The somewhat dubious railroad history is rich within Allen. One of Texas's first train robberies was committed by the infamous Sam Boss in the late 1800s here. The wild, wild West lifestyle is pretty much over in Allen — replaced by a more suburban doggie-centric way of living. Pet parents love the quick access to over 16 veterinarians, 9 pet groomers, and 9 pet shops in the area.

Families with four-legged best friends also have tons of options in fun day outings with their pups! Allen has over 19 parks with a few off-leash options, like the Canine Commons Dog Park located in The Village. There are also hiking trails for you to take your trailblazing doggo on, like the Cottonwood Creek trail or Historic Water Station trail. After some playtime at the park or some sightseeing on a trail, it's time to eat! Allen has over 9 dog-friendly restaurants where you can get a bite to eat while your dog sits with you in the outside seating area.
