Located along the north shore of Big Bear Lake, Big Bear City’s North Shore and Paradise area is home to the Cougar Crest Bertha Peak Trail. This moderately easy 7.1-mile hike is a great activity to enjoy with your four-legged friend. The trail features a lake and plenty of incredible views. Dogs are welcome on the trail, but remember to clean up after them to preserve the beauty of this popular destination. Alpine Pedal Path and Woodland Trail are also located in this area and welcome furry adventurers and their parents. Pay close attention because some parking areas require an Adventure Pass.

Spend a few nights in the lap of luxury at Cienaga Creek Ranch or Four Seasons Getaway at Big Bear. If you’re looking for something a bit more rustic, visit Chalet Dubois or Myrtle Chalet. When you’re in Big Bear City’s Erwin Lake neighborhood, bring your canine companion to Bark Park to enjoy a puptastic afternoon. The Bark Park features separate areas for large dogs and small dogs, as well as some agility equipment, including a jump over and a tunnel. The park is open daily from sunrise to sunset, and clean-up bags and trash cans are provided. There are also several benches where pet parents can sit and relax while their four-legged “kids” run and play. When your dog needs a safe, fenced-in area for some off-leash exercise, the Bark Park is the place to be!

Located just under 5 miles southwest of Big Bear City, Big Bear Lake’s City Center is home to a few fun places to check out with your dog. Boathouse Dog Beach is located on the shore of Big Bear Lake and welcomes well-behaved, off-leash dogs. Let your canine companion go for a swim or a run along the shore, and enjoy a drink at the beach bar. If you’re in the mood for taste bud tantalizing steaks, burgers and other delectable eats, check out Jasper’s Smoke House and Steaks. The large patio welcomes dogs, and the staff provides bowls of water to keep pups well-hydrated.

Also approximately 5 miles southwest of Big Bear City, Boulder Bay in Big Bear Lake is home to Grand View Point Trail. Dogs are welcome on this moderately easy 6-mile hike. Located in the San Bernardino National Forest, it takes approximately three hours to complete this hike. If you are in the mood for a shorter hike in this area, take Mill Creek Road to a point just below the summit where the trail crosses the road. Whether you do the full hike or opt for the shorter trek, this trail features spectacular views of Big Bear Lake and breathtaking foliage.
