Located in Transylvania County in North Carolina, Brevard borders the Pisgah National Forest. With five parks and two pawtastic trails within the city and easy access to state and national recreational facilities nearby, this area is a wonderful place for dogs and their owners. There are two veterinary clinics in the community where you can seek professional care for your canine companion.
One great place to go with your pup is the Brevard Greenway. This five-mile mixed-use trail is popular with area bikers, joggers, and walkers. You can start north of downtown, head past Brevard College and the former Carr Lumber Company, and finish at the Davidson River Parking lot. Dogs on a leash are allowed to join you on the trail.
If you want to go fishing with your furry friend, take your boat and head to Hap Simpson Park along Greenville Road and launch out into the French Broad River. You can also cast a line from shore in the park. Your special pal is free to join you as long as you keep him on a leash while in the area.
Take your four-footed friend hiking at Hooker Falls, located about 13 miles east of Brevard. Explore the trails that wind past Little River and through the Dupont State Forest. Dogs on a leash are allowed in this facility.
With all these outdoor activities and more, Brevard is a great place to live or visit with your dog.
