The border city of Calexico rests on the southern border of California and Mexico, with a sister city on the opposite side of the border called Mexicali. The name has generated a lot of popularity over the years, from being mentioned in song and movies to having parodies created out of it. Although humorous, the city is serious when it comes to taking care of its four-legged residents and provides pups and humans with vibrant, lush public parks to enjoy. The closest animal hospital is two miles away in Mexicali.

Rodriguez Park is one of the most popular spots to walk Fido in the city, thanks to its green fields and recreational fields. There are enclosed tennis courts, a basketball court, and fenced-in baseball field. There's also lots of open space, shaded sitting areas, picnic tables, a playground, and swingsets. Remember to leash up Fido before coming to the park and enjoy additional features like water fountains, trash bins, and nighttime lights.

The Joel Reisen Park provides an open and safe place to take Fido out to play, thanks to its 3 fenced-in baseball fields. The baseball fields are dog-friendly to pups as long as no teams are playing and gives Fido a chance to run around freely. There's also lots of room to run around and play outside of the ballfields, with other features like water fountains, a playground, benches, trash bins, and picnic tables.

Inside the desert town of Calexico, dog lovers will find plenty of great places to walk Fido, like Crummett Park, Legion Park, and Border Park.
