Calle Albara
This Rancho San Diego neighborhood is home to Damon Lane County Park, a beautiful place to take your pup for an on-leash walk. This 29-acre park has a well-marked multi-use trail you can walk on with your dog. This trail takes you through groves of eucalyptus trees, past a lovely creek, and by wide-open grassy spaces. There are also a few different scenic viewpoints where you’ll get sweeping views of the area around the park. Bring water and doggy bags, and have a fun time hiking through this park with your furry best friend.

The coastal neighborhood of Mission Bay is home to an off-leash area your pup is sure to love: Fiesta Island Off-Leash Park. Located 20 miles from Rancho San Diego, this off-leash area is right on the water. Your pup can run and play in the sand, or they can splash and swim in the warm water. The area is unfenced, so be sure to keep your dog under voice control while they’re playing. Bring water with you, and have a fun day out at the park! If you want to get a bite to eat after the park, head to The Landing Grille. This bayside restaurant serves all-American classics, like burgers and chili. They welcome dogs at their outdoor tables, and the wait staff will bring your pup a big bowl of water.

Madison is a mixed residential and commercial neighborhood. This neighborhood has lots to offer its furry residents and visitors, including an off-leash area called Wells Park Dog Run. Located five miles from Rancho San Diego, this off-leash area has separate sections for big and small dogs to play in. If your pup gets thirsty while they’re playing with their new friends, water is available in the park. After the park, continue your fun day out with lunch at the Downtown Café. This casual restaurant allows dogs on their front patio, and they offer a huge menu that includes everything from fajitas to BBQ ribs to pasta dishes.

San Diego’s North Park neighborhood has a pawsitively amazing place to hike with your dog: Switzer Canyon Open Space. This park is 14 miles from Rancho San Diego, and it has one hiking trail, the 2.8-mile Switzer Canyon Trail. As you go along this unpaved, mostly flat trail, you’ll get stunning views of San Diego. Bring water with you, and have fun exploring this unique trail. After the hike, treat your pup to a snack from Original Paw Pleasers Dog Bakery. This bakery serves a wide variety of freshly baked preservative-free treats, and they also sell lots of cute toys. Your pup will love shopping here!

Urban Drive La Mesa
If you’re looking for another furrific off-leash area for your dog, check out Canine Corners Dog Park. This dog park is just six miles from Rancho San Diego, and it has two sections: one for large dogs and one for small dogs. Both areas are fully fenced, and water and doggy bags are available for your pup. If you’re hungry after the park, head to Anthony’s Fish Grotto. This restaurant has a special outdoor area where your pup can play off-leash while you’re eating. The restaurant will also provide your dog with water and treats. As your dog enjoys their treats, you can dine on freshly-caught seafood, burgers, pasta, and more.
