Eshrit did an amazing job with my dog. Sending me videos and photos during the walk, but mostly importantly, adhering to the specific instructions I left her. Grossmont Terrace

In the neighboring town of La Mesa, you can find another puppy paradise! The Grossmont Terrace neighborhood is the proud home to the Harry Griffen Park and Canine Corners Dog Park, just a 5-minute drive from Casa de Oro Mount Helix. The dog park features three large fenced off areas, so dogs of all shapes and sizes can have a safe place to play and make friends. Amenities include water buckets, pooper scoopers, trash cans, and balls to chase. All you need to bring is your playful pup! Leashed dogs are allowed to explore the surrounding Harry Griffen Park as well. This park features a jogging trail that’s easy on the paws and the eyes. There are also picnic areas, playgrounds, and plenty of greenspaces to feast your eyes on.

Rancho San Diego Town Center

East of Casa de Oro Mount Helix, just a hop across the border into the Rancho San Diego Town Center, you can find the furtastic Damon Lane County Park. This park is under a 10-minute drive from Casa de Oro Mount Helix and is a great place to escape into nature! Here you can find 29 acres of thick forest groves, open grassy areas, and a creek. There are nature trails that wind through the park that attract joggers, nature enthusiasts, and dog walkers. At the top of the hill, you can catch great views of Rancho San Diego. Leashed dogs are welcome! After working up an appetite, head over to the Chipotle Mexican Grill in the same neighborhood. This restaurant is known for its burritos and taco bowls, and has six outdoor dog-friendly tables.

La Mesa West

In the La Mesa West neighborhood of La Mesa, just 10 minutes from Casa de Oro Mount Helix, you can find another woofderful gem, the Mission Trails Regional Park Murray Lake. Here you and your pupper can enjoy the many hiking trails, and even take a stroll around the peaceful lake. Your dog will love the squirrel and duck watching! Along with the trails, there is also a 1.5-mile paved road to walk along. Leashed dogs are welcome, but don’t forget the waste bags, and plenty of water to drink for you and your parched pup! There are outhouses on site as well. When your stomach is growling, head over to the Lake Murray Cafe right nearby. This cafe has dog-friendly outdoor seating so that you can dig into some hearty American food next to your canine companion.

Jamacha Junction

In the nearby town of Rancho San Diego, you can find the San Diego National Wildlife Refuge. This wildlife refuge can be accessed from the Jamacha Junction neighborhood, about 10 minutes away from Casa de Oro Mount Helix. When you and your pooch are just itching to get into the great outdoors, this is the place to go! The refuge comprises of 11,152 acres of rolling grasslands, canyons, mountains and forests. The Sweetwater River Trail is a favorite place to take a hike, featuring a bridge over Steele Canyon Creek and many wildflowers in the spring. Dogs are welcome, but they must stay leashed. This policy also helps protect your curious puppy from rattlesnakes. Don’t forget the drinking water and dog treats for your good boy or girl!
