With almost 7 miles of paved trails, and 7 more unpaved for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding, it is a doggo’s definition of pawradise! On-leash pups can walk or hike with their human companions along the Alcovy River or Cedar Creek, over boardwalks and bridges, and up small mountains to gorgeous vistas. The park also features a lake and large expanses of green where a picnic lunch would be perfect! The park is open from sunrise until 11:00 pm, so there’s plenty of time no matter what your schedule looks like, so come and enjoy!

This neighborhood of Dacula is where you’ll find dog-friendly Dacula Park which boasts 76 acres and many activities for the humans, along with a 1.75-mile paved trail for walking with the canine member of the family. Also of interest to Fido will be the pond where he can search for amphibians and small water mammals, or even take a dip. After the walk around the pond, be sure to visit the grill and toss on a few pieces of chicken, or a couple of burgers to share with your furry friend. This neighborhood in Dacula is home to Little Mulberry Park. Don’t be fooled by the “little” In the park’s name – this dog-friendly park is anything but small, with 892 acres featuring almost 30 miles of paved and unpaved trails to explore with your leashed furry friend. She’ll be excited to visit the lake, or to walk by your side on one of the trails, perhaps to the overlook area that is featured at one of the highest points in Gwinnett County. She’ll see, hear and smell birds, amphibians and small mammals. With pavilions and grills, this is a great place to stop and enjoy a meal together, too. Restrooms for the humans means water for the pup, and the meadow is a lovely spot to explore and do a little romping! Woofderful!

Winder City Center
About 10 miles from Dacula is the city of Winder, home to Fort Yargo State Park, a dog-friendly park whose 1816 acres feature a lake, camping and cottages, boat ramps and a sandy beach. Once an encampment built to protect settlers from the Cherokee and Creek Indians, it has become a perfect place to visit with your fur-buddy in tow for some fun and exercise in the outdoors! There are 20.5 miles of multi-use trails to meander along, and 5 picnic shelters for those after-hike snacks, lunches or dinners. Plenty of parking and restrooms are scattered throughout the park, with benches here and there as well. Rock gardens and bridges that cross the lake and creeks provide plenty to look at for both human and pooch. Barktiful!

Pilgrim Mill Rd/ Sinclair Shores
This neighborhood in Cumming, about 20 miles from Dacula, is a long peninsula that juts into Lake Lanier, and is host to Tidwell Park. The park features a boat ramp, but is also an ideal place to take Fido for a swim and a splash from the pebbled beach. The park also offers a large grassy area for romping and playing, too, and is pawfect for a picnic lunch or supper. Or simply have a sit on one of the benches provided and enjoy the natural beauty of the place while Fido dozes by your side. And don’t forget: boat rides are fun for doggos too!!
