More than 5,000 people call the town of Eaton, Colorado home, and it's a beautiful place to live. The town was incorporated in 1892, and to this day, a lot of it is farmland. There are lots of parks and recreational areas in town, and there are regular community events that are fun for the whole family. Eaton also has an excellent school system, so it's a very appealing place to raise a family. 

When it comes to raising your four-legged family members, Eaton is an awesome place for that, too! There isn't an off-leash dog park in town, but there are several nearby. Eaton does have plenty of parks in town with more in the works, and many of these parks are dog-friendly spots ideal for an on-leash walk.

Hawkstone Park is an 11-acre park in northeastern Eaton, and it includes a beautiful two-acre lake. One of the things that make Hawkstone Park such a good place to walk your dog in town is the one-mile walking trail throughout the park. Along the path, there are nine benches so you can your pup can stop and take in your surroundings. There are also open green spaces at the park and playgrounds your two-legged children will enjoy. When it comes time to visit an off-leash park, you and Sparky can take a short drive to your pick of several nearby parks!

Rover's Run Dog Park in north Greeley, Colorado is only a 15-minute drive from Eaton. Greeley is a city of more than 100,000 people, and there are plenty of fun things to do in town. Rover's Run Dog Park is a three-acre dog park that doesn't separate dogs by size, so all dogs play together. There are picnic tables, overhead shelters, portable washrooms, and waste disposal supplies in the park. There isn't a water fountain at the park, so be sure to bring your own when you visit. You can also access the Poudre River Trail from the dog park parking lot, and it's a pawfect place for an on-leash walk.

This one-acre dog park is a peaceful place for Fido to get some exercise, and it never feels too crowded or busy. Like many dog parks in Colorado, this one doesn't separate dogs by size, so they all play together in the same space. There are doggy bags and trash bins situated throughout the park, but be sure to bring your own water. Some visitors note there isn't a ton of shade at the park, so don't forget your sunscreen!

Windsor Lake is a picturesque lake in Windsor that has a walking trail surrounding it as well as its own dog park. The dog park isn't a huge space, but its purpose is to give dogs a safe space to access the lake, and it does just that! Your dog can take a refreshing dip in Windsor Lake or just run around off-leash. The trail surrounding the lake stretches for more than two miles, and it's paved the whole way, which makes it a comfortable dog walking option.

Less than 30 miles northwest of Eaton is the town of Wellington, and more than 8,000 people live there. In the northern section of the town, you'll find Wellington Dog Park. This off-leash dog park is located within Wellington Park, a 30-acre park with playgrounds, sports fields, trails, and concessions in addition to the dog park. The dog park is divided into a few areas for dogs of different sizes, and one of the areas even includes a pond so hot dogs can take a dip. This park just opened in 2016, and the inclusion of the town's first off-leash dog park has been really exciting for the community!
