As a suburb on the east side of Reno, Hidden Valley offers a local park with an off-leash dog park as well as easy access to a variety of pawtastic opportunities for you and your pup. Although there are no veterinarians within the community, the nearest animal hospital is just five miles west of the area.

When you want to run your pup through his paces and give him some off-leash recreation, drive west about 7.5 miles to the Virginia Lake Dog Park. This fenced facility in Reno includes separate play areas for large and small dogs, agility equipment, benches, and waste bags so that you can clean up after your pooch.

About eight miles north of Happy Valley, you can take your pup to Pah Rah Neighborhood Park off Vista Avenue. This community green space has a network of trails where you and your pooch will be able to hike or jog for some exercise. 

If you're travelling to the area in an RV and need a pet-friendly place to camp, check out the Victorian RV Park in Sparks. This facility allows up to two dogs of any size for no additional fee. There is a dog run on-site where you can exercise your pooch.

The neighborhood of Hidden Valley in Sparks is a furr-iffic place to bring your pup for some exercise. Head to the Link Piazzo Dog Park to treat your special pal to some off-leash socialization with other canine companions. This facility features separate areas for large and small dogs, a double-gated entryway to prevent escapes, benches, and water stations. Once your pooch has had time to romp around, head next door to Hidden Valley Regional Park and wander the trails through this open area. Dogs on a leash are welcome here as long as you pick up after them. Waste bags and receptacles are available in the dog park.

Just 4.4 miles north of Hidden Valley, the neighborhood of Vista provides easy access to a puptacular trail. Head east about five miles to connect with the Lockwood Loop and Interpretive Trail. Enjoy walking or jogging along the Truckee River and viewing wildlife with your four-footed companion. Dogs on a leash are permitted to join you on these level, natural-surface trails. Make sure to bring along water and waste bags. After you get some exercise, head back in town to Fuddruckers to grab a bite to eat. Your special pal is welcome to lounge by your side at one of the outdoor tables.

After you complete your loop, grab a snack at the concession stand and relax at one of the tables in the picnic area. Just three miles southwest of Hidden Valley, the neighborhood of Donner Springs is located next to a wonderful wilderness trail. Leash up your pooch and head over to the Huffaker Hills Trailhead on Alexander Lake Road. This mixed-use, natural trail includes wide, packed areas and narrow, rocky parts. Take time to enjoy the spectacular view from the lookout. Continue south into Huffaker Park to take full advantage of this 1.7-mile trek. You may bring your pup on a leash as long as you stick to the pathway and pick up any droppings.  Make sure you bring along some water and stay alert for rattlesnakes.
