Irving Dog Park on Valley View Lane is a completely fenced in park that is open from sunrise to sunset and is free for everyone. There are two separate areas – one for small dogs (24lbs and lighter) and one for large dogs (25lbs and heavier) – so small dogs won’t be intimidated by large dogs and vice versa. Benches, drinking fountains, and a shelter are provided in each area.

Grab your tennis shoes, water, and leash up your dog, and then head on over to Birds Fort Trail Park on Riverside Drive. Birds Fort Trail Park has a great trail for hiking, biking, skating, and exploring with your pooch. Shade is limited, so keep that in mind on those scorching hot days, and there are few drinking fountains, so be sure to bring plenty for you and Fido. Birds Fort Trail Park does have a shaded pavilion with picnic tables and drinking fountains if you just want to sit and take in the scenery. Dogs must be leashed and cleaned up after at all times.

Salazar Park on Cypress Waters Boulevard is the best park to enjoy your lunch hour with your pup. Known as a true “adult” park, Salazar Park has no playground or toys for children to play on, and it has beautiful sculptures and landscaping to enjoy. Food trucks come in during the lunch hour, and dogs are welcome as long as they’re leashed and cleaned up after at all times.
