Dog Areas in Johnston, RI

Johnston, Rhode Island is a town located about seven miles west of the state’s capital city, Providence. Named for the colonial attorney general, Augustus Johnston, the area is known for its rich history. The town was founded way back in 1759 after it separated from Providence to become its own town. Also of note are a few famous celebrities that call Johnston their hometown. Paul DelVecchio, perhaps better known to you as Pauly D, from the MTV show Jersey Shore is from Johnston. Noel Acciari, a player for the NHL’s Boston Bruins, is also from the town.

While there’s plenty for people to do and see in Johnston, there isn’t much for your four-legged canine companions. If you’re looking for something fun to do with your dog, your best bet is to head to Providence. There, you can find several restaurants that will welcome your dog. There are also a few dog parks in the city. Johnston does have one veterinarian clinic, and not too far outside of the city is a twenty-four hour animal hospital in case of emergencies. Make sure to check out Johnston, as there’s always something to do within just a few miles!
