The Katherine Legge Memorial Dog Park in Hinsdale is a real mutts-visit. One of the few dog parks in Cook County that isn’t members-only, the park is huge and even features a small creek! There’s no separate areas for large and small dogs, though, so be mindful of your pup’s temperament. Water and bags are provided, but be warned -- you can only let your pup off leash during certain hours. The off-leash area is in operation from 5 AM to 9 AM and 7 PM to 10 PM in the summer, and 5 AM to 10am and 5 PM to 10 PM during the winter. If you let your pooch run free outside of these times, you risk a $50 fine.

This stately natural oak woodland showcases some of the most splendid scenery Cook County has to offer, and there’s a trail here for every fitness level. Be careful, though; no matter how much your buddy loves swimming, letting them loose in Saltwater Creek is a bad idea -- those currents can be dangerous! Be sure to bring your own water and bags, and look up a trail map before you go. Some trails aren’t suitable for your pooch due to the wildlife in the area.

There are separate areas for large and small dogs, so your pooch can socialize no matter their size, and the park even provides a big basket of toys for catch and tug-of-war. There are no water fountains though, so bring your own water -- your pup is sure to work up a thirst!
